City of Coos Bay release - The Coos Bay Fire Department has placed a new 2025 Pierce Enforcer Fire Engine into service. This engine replaces a 1994 Central States engine that has served the community for more than 30 years. The $780,000 purchase was made possible through a strong partnership between the City of Coos Bay and the department’s contract districts—Libby, Timber Park, and Bunker Hill. The engine was ordered in May 2023 and recently arrived at Station 1. Fire engines are more than emergency vehicles. They carry the tools and equipment used to respond to structure fires, medical calls, vehicle crashes, rescues, and hazardous materials incidents. This new Pierce Enforcer brings improved safety, reliability, and performance for firefighters and the public. It is expected to remain in service for the next 20 years. The 1994 engine it replaced served the community well but had become difficult and costly to maintain due to age, reliability concerns, and limited parts availability. The new engine gives our crews a safer and more capable platform to serve the community. This investment reflects a long-term commitment to public safety and emergency response in Coos Bay. As call volumes continue to increase, modern and dependable apparatus are essential to keeping pace with growing service demands.
