NBPD release - The North Bend City Council recognized three members of the North Bend Police Department for a combined 35 years of full-time service and welcomed a newly promoted patrol sergeant during a recent meeting.  Police Records Specialist Tasha Hill and Officer Brett Stark were each recognized for 10 years of service, while Police Chief Ed Perry was honored for 15 years of full-time service. The Council also recognized Jerad Jaehnig following his promotion to patrol sergeant.  Hill has spent the past decade supporting the department's day-to-day operations as a police records specialist. Records personnel perform a wide range of responsibilities that support officers, investigations, public records requests, court proceedings and other administrative functions necessary to keep the department operating effectively.  Stark was recognized for 10 years as a full-time North Bend police officer, though his service to the department began several years earlier. He joined North Bend as a reserve officer in 2012 and became a full-time officer in 2016.  During his career, Stark has served as a field training officer and patrol shift supervisor and has received specialized training as a crisis negotiator. Earlier this year, he was selected for the department's restored investigator position, where he is focusing on major criminal investigations and cases requiring additional follow-up.  Perry was recognized for 15 years of full-time service with the department. His association with North Bend Police dates back to 2003, when he began serving as a reserve officer. He became a full-time patrol officer in July 2011.  Over the course of his career, Perry has served in a variety of assignments and leadership positions, including reserve officer, reserve sergeant, patrol officer, reserve-program co-coordinator, reserve academy instructor, school resource officer, sergeant and captain.  Perry was appointed North Bend police chief earlier this year following the retirement of former Chief Cal Mitts.  His appointment also continued a unique family connection to North Bend law enforcement. Perry's great-grandfather, Oliver E. Reeve, served as North Bend's police chief in 1939.  The Council also welcomed Jaehnig in his new role as patrol sergeant.  Before his promotion, Jaehnig served as a North Bend School Resource Officer, working closely with students, families and school staff. His work included not only law enforcement responsibilities, but also building relationships with students, participating in school activities and maintaining a visible presence around schools and crosswalks.  His promotion represents another step in the department's effort to develop supervisors and future leaders from within its own ranks.  The four ceremonial recognitions highlighted the variety of roles required to operate a municipal police department, from records and investigations to patrol, community outreach and departmental leadership.  Together, Hill, Stark and Perry represent 35 years of full-time service to the City of North Bend, in addition to the years Stark and Perry previously served as reserve officers.
