An overhead, close-up view of McGetchin crater that was taken on Dec. 5, 2025, by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) Narrow-Angle Camera (NAC).

A scientist reviewing NASA’s moon photos spotted a newly formed crater during a routine check, the agency announced Wednesday.
