Description

People sought relief from record-breaking temperatures at a cooling center at the Oregon Convention Center during the 2021 heat dome on June 28, 2021. Multnomah County is now seeking more than $51 billion from fossil fuel companies and industry groups over the deadly heat event and future climate-related costs.

Multnomah County’s $51 billion lawsuit against some of the world’s largest fossil fuel companies can move forward after an Oregon judge rejected nearly all of the industry’s efforts to have the case thrown out.
