Description

A new proposal would diminish the chair’s unilateral authority to control the board agenda, declare a public meeting over.

Last year, Multnomah County Commissioner Julia Brim-Edwards floated a proposal to temper the power of the board’s chair and bring reforms to how the county commission does business. With three newly elected commissioners settled in, Brim Edwards has found allies to bring those ideas to life.

$2,000 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY | Youth, who will be high school seniors next year, are encouraged to apply to serve on the Hillsboro Police Community Advisory Group during the 2025-26 school year. Every month, the members (both adults and one youth) meet with the Police Chief to exchange ideas and share perspectives on local policing and current events that may impact Hillsboro’s approach, as well as programming, outreach, and messaging. The successful applicant must live within the Hillsboro Police jurisdiction, and will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship for their education after high school. Apply by July 1 at https://bit.ly/3WJWYnI
