Former Marshfield prep football player Dom Montiel, who recently entered the College Transfer Portal in leaving Oregon State where he was a preferred walk-on, has landed at Southern Oregon University, Ashland, with two-years of eligibility remaining in his collegiate career. The Raiders, an NAIA school, competes against Eastern Oregon, College of Idaho, Montana Western, Montana Tech, Arizona Christian, Carroll, Montana, Rocky Mtn., and MSU-Northern in the Frontier Conference. SOU finished fourth in 2024 with a 5-3 conference record and an 8-3 overall mark, for third-year head coach Berk Brown, an SOU alum. Former Coquille player Bo Yates will be a junior for Southern Oregon this Fall. The running back earned All-American honors following his sophomore season. He’s the first Raider running back to do that since his father, Griff Yates (’97). Yates finished the season with 1,488 rushing yards in eleven-games, averaging 135.2 yards per game, and scored 29 touchdowns.
