City of Coos Bay release - The Mingus Park Pool is thrilled to welcome swimmers back following a week-long maintenance shutdown that allowed for a series of significant upgrades and improvements to the facility. The pool was closed from August 23 through September 1, during which time staff and volunteers completed a variety of projects aimed at improving efficiency, cleanliness, and overall user experience. Among the enhancements: Reconfiguration of circulation pipes to improve water flow between the boiler and pool, increasing energy efficiency. Thorough pressure washing of the pool surface, building exterior, and locker rooms. Installation of a new drinking fountain with a convenient water bottle fill station. Replacement of the front entrance doors for improved accessibility and aesthetics. Upgraded LED lighting throughout the facility for better visibility and energy savings. Fresh paint and stenciling applied to multiple areas, adding vibrancy and clarity to signage. Sealing of various building areas to enhance insulation and reduce energy consumption. At 5:00 a.m. on September 2, happy swimmers returned to the water, greeted by a refreshed and revitalized facility. The Mingus Park Pool team extends its gratitude to the city staff and numerous volunteers for their efforts and support during the closure!
