Marshfield’s boys run at the 2025 OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union 4A Basketball State Championships ended with a runners-up finish to two-time State Champion Baker 64-46, on Joe Moran Court at Forest Grove High School Saturday night. It was the final game of the three-day tourney and all the explosiveness you would expect in a championship contest that also served as the final game of the 2024-25 prep season. The Bulldogs (18-8) shot 40.7% from the field for the game, while the Pirates (23-3) shot 37.3%. Isiah Jones led Baker in scoring with 25-points, while Steel Carpenter led Marshfield with 18. The Greater Oregon champs out rebounded the Sky-Em champs, 44-27. Phoenix won the Sportsmanship Trophy. Carpenter was selected to the All-Tournament First Team, and his teammate Luke Jackson to the Second Team. Both are the only seniors on the MHS roster. The girls’ 4A Tournament was won by No. 2 seed Stayton over No. 1 seed Philomath, 47-38. Baker took third with a 53-35 win over Cascade and Henley beat LaGrande, 63-48 for fourth-place. Stayton won the Sportsmanship Trophy as well.
