Description

Washington County and Clackamas County provided almost no homeless services before the Metro homeless services tax went into effect after voters approved it in 2020. Now both counties have housing services and shelter beds, including these individual sleeping quarters in Beaverton's first purpose-built homeless shelter, seen here during a media tour in November.

The Metro Council will decide within the next month whether to refer a reformed version of the regional government’s homeless services tax to the May ballot.
