Description
In recent weeks detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) have been receiving ongoing information from multiple sources about an individual named Eric “Gimmick” Ray. All of the information alleged that Ray was living in a tent at the homeless camp often referred to as "The Point" near the 300 block of Winchester Street in Roseburg, and that he was routinely selling user quantities of methamphetamine to other homeless people in the area. On Monday, January 6th, detectives contacted Ray at his tent regarding the alleged activity. In Ray's tent detectives located methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia. Detectives found one bag of bulk meth, weighing approximately 24 grams (almost 1 ounce), and another bag that contained 24 small individually wrapped plastic bags totalling approximately 36.5 grams of suspected meth. The individually wrapped bags appeared to have been pre-weighed and packaged for individual sale. Detectives also located a set of digital scales presumably used for weighing the substances. Ray was arrested and lodged at the Douglas County Jail on charges of Unlawful Possession, Delivery, and Manufacture of Methamphetamine. DINT ordinarily focuses on higher level cases. However some situations have a potential for high community impact and therefore require attention. Street level drug abuse issues have wide ranging impacts on the surrounding community.
