The Social Security Administration raised the maximum amount of earnings subject to the Social Security tax – known as Maximum Taxable Earnings or Contribution Base – from $184,500 to $192,300.

The Social Security Administration recently announced a 3.6% cost of living adjustment in 2027 - the highest figure in four years. Tucked away in that announcement was another – and costlier - change for high earners.
