Long-awaited Sunflare apple makes public debut in Washington

FILE: Honeycrisp apples in an orchard outside Hood River in 2022. The new Sunflare apple is a hybrid derived from Honeycrisp and Cripps Pink varieties.

The line of hungry Washington State University students and faculty numbered more than 50 well before Jeremy Tamsen had finished unloading his boxes of apples.
