Description

Lincoln County School District is excited to offer two unique summer learning programs designed to support student success. Incoming kindergarteners are invited to attend a transition program designed to get them ready for school. All incoming kindergarten students who will be 5 before September 1, 2025 and plan on attending an LCSD kindergarten in the fall are encouraged to attend.

For those entering an LCSD school for grades 1-6, summer learning is an opportunity for additional support in reading, specifically those performing below or well below grade-level proficiency. Our summer learning program will have a strong focus on literacy, while also offering a blend of academic learning, enrichment activities, and field trip opportunities.

Program Schedule

Dates: June 16, 2025, through July 3, 2025 (no program on June 19)

Location: Your neighborhood elementary school

Entering Grades 1–6

Times: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday (excludes June 19)

Students entering grades 1–6 will participate in daily structured literacy instruction, along with engaging enrichment activities and field trips designed to enhance learning. *Note: Current 5th graders at Sam Case going into Newport Middle will need to register for the secondary summer learning program.

Entering Kindergarten

Times: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday (excludes June 19)

Kindergarten students will take part in a special Kindergarten Readiness program, focused on building early literacy, social skills, and school routines to help them confidently transition into elementary school.

Program Highlights

  • Literacy-focused academic learning
  • Enrichment activities to support whole-child development
  • Potential field trip opportunities
  • Transportation, breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided
