Ontario High School seniors wearing their caps and gowns head to busses that will take them through Grad Walk, an annual event that takes graduating seniors to their middle and elementary schools for a celebratory march through the hallways in 2024. Oregon's graduation rate has been rising, but some students do not make it through four years and emerge with a diploma.

Oregon education officials this week justly celebrated the more than 40,000 members of the class of 2025 who crossed the stage to receive their high school diploma last spring. Those graduates boosted the state’s four-year graduation rate to 83%, the highest since the current measurement system was put in place over a dozen years ago.
