DOCO SO release - DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has concluded its participation in the July Speed Enforcement Campaign.  Utilizing grant dollars administered by the Oregon Department of Transportation, a total of 35 hours of enhanced speed enforcement grant funding was utilized during the enforcement period. During the efforts, deputies made the following contacts:  40 Warnings for Speed; 17 Citations for Speed; 9 Citations for Driving While Suspended; 2 Warnings for Equipment Violations; 3 Citations for Equipment Violations; 36 Warnings for “Other” Violations; 13 Citations for “Other” Violations.  "Speed limits are established to keep everyone safe," said Sheriff John Hanlin. "Our goal is not simply to write citations, but to encourage drivers to slow down, make responsible decisions behind the wheel, and help prevent crashes that can have lifelong consequences."  The Douglas County Sheriff's Office continues to encourage motorists to obey posted speed limits, eliminate distractions like cellphones, and always drive at a speed appropriate for traffic, weather, and roadway conditions.
