Izzy Covalt, who would own and operate one of Oregon’s best-known pizza chains, Izzy’s Pizza, had high standards for food from young age. In elementary school, her classmates’ mothers took turns cooking for the students. Covalt was picky, refusing to eat lunches she deemed inferior to her own mother’s excellent cooking. Her act of defiance infuriated her teachers.
