It is with great pleasure that Coos Bay School District announces Kayla Crook as our new Director of Special Programs. She has a background as an educational assistant, Special Education teacher, award winning Speech and Debate coach, and administrator at multiple levels in our district and has proven her dedication to advancing the educational experiences for all of our students.
Crook has earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies and a Master’s Degree in Special Education. She is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree of Educational Leadership in Special Education through Portland State University.

In her career, Crook has made positive contributions to the education and development of students ranging from preschool to high school. This has given her a comprehensive perspective that considers the needs of our entire district. In each teaching or leadership position she has held, Crook has demonstrated adaptability, creativity, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment.

In her new role, Kayla Crook will work with existing district leadership, including our new superintendent once selected, to contribute to the growth and success of all programs within the Coos Bay School District. We thank outgoing Director Lisa DeSalvio for her long-time service to the district and wish her a happy, healthy retirement!
