JULIET DAVISON TAKES OATH OF OFFICE On December 15, 2025, Juliet Davison was administered her oath of office by Chief Chris Chapanar as a Community Service Officer for the City of Coos Bay/Coos Bay Police Department. Among the many critical duties of the Community Service Officer are enforcement of Coos Bay municipal codes, particularly regarding attractive nuisance violations, as well as buildings, landscaping, and signage. The Community Service Officer will proactively engage in identifying code violations and begin working to find ways to remedy the problem. Juliet Davison has called Coos County home for her entire adult life and is excited to join the City of Coos Bay Police Department as a Community Service Officer. With seven years of law enforcement experience as a Correctional Officer for the Oregon Youth Authority, Juliet brings a wealth of knowledge in public service and community engagement to the department. Outside of work, Juliet enjoys fly fishing, training bird hunting dogs and shooting sports. We are very excited to bring Juliet on-board, and we look forward to watching her excel in her role as a Community Service Officer for the City of Coos Bay/Coos Bay Police Department. 12/23/25 - LCSO Case 25-6174 Missing elderly Eugene woman died in fatal crash near Lowell On December 23rd at 10:30 a.m., the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Eugene Police Department that a missing woman, Melissa Ann Radcliff, 73, of Eugene, may be in her vehicle east of Lowell. The Lane County Sheriff’s Weighmaster, a deputy who is a drone operator, diverted to West Boundary Road to search for Radcliff. The deputy spotted her vehicle at about milepost 5. It was crashed down a steep embankment, upside down and partially submerged in the shallow creek. He requested fire personnel respond, climbed down, and located Radcliff inside. Despite lifesaving measures attempted by the deputy, Lane County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and Lowell Fire personnel, Radcliff was pronounced deceased on scene. Thanks to the Eugene Police Department and Lowell Rural Fire Protection District for their assistance with this call. Featured News by Lane County Sheriff
