The voice of two huge hit songs from the 1980s is dead at age 74.

Naked Eyes singer Peter Byrne, best known for New Wave favorites “Always Something There to Remind Me” and “Promises, Promises,” died in Los Angeles on Sept. 14, according to a press release issued Wednesday. A cause of death was not given, but Byrne died “peacefully” after “a brief illness.”
