A 1920 Colonial Revival mansion with red siding in Northeast Portland’s Irvington neighborhood is for sale. The house has a timeless European style and modern American luxury, according to listing agent Wendy Snyder of Portland Creative Realtors. The Colonial Revival-style house has 6,364 square feet of living space. The dining room has custom murals, coffered ceiling and hardwood floors. The chef’s kitchen has stone counters, gas appliances and a butler’s pantry. Owner and restorer John McCulloch describes the House of the Scarlet Gables as “superlative layering of thoughtfully studied design.” There are 15 special chandeliers in the 1920 mansion. Six sets of French doors and large windows infuse spaces with light, said listing broker Wendy Snyder of Portland Creative Realtors. All four levels of the 1920 mansion have been upgraded. A 1920 mansion has leaded glass windows and speciality wall treatments. The second-story primary suite spans more than 600 square feet and features a fireplace, balcony, dressing room and two bathrooms. The primary suite has two bathrooms. There are four levels of living space. The lower level has entertainment and flexible spaces. A scaled-down replica of the mansion used as a playhouse in installed in the lower level. A separate home is above the garage. A light-filled sunroom has wallpapered walls and ceiling. The second-story primary suite has French doors that lead to a balcony. The 0.24-acre corner lot has an outdoor fireplace and entertainment spaces under covered patios and a gazebo. An outdoor fireplace faces the covered patio. Portland-based McCulloch Design and Construction hired teams of craftspeople to update the house for sale.
