๐Ÿšจ High-Speed Pursuit Leads to Arrest of Suspect with Stolen Vehicles ๐Ÿšจ

On February 25, 2025, at approximately 9:34 PM, Sgt. Whitmer of the Bandon Police Department attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle on Highway 101. The motorcyclist accelerated away, leading to a high-speed pursuit. Deputies Z. Smith, Churchill, and Freerksen quickly joined the chase.

The motorcycle turned off Highway 101 onto Bethel Mountain Lane, where deputies began their search. Deputy Z. Smith arrived at an abandoned residence with two vehicles parked outside and spotted a spray-painted black Toyota 4-Runner in the garage. A man exited the driverโ€™s seat but quickly got back in upon noticing the deputy.

Detecting the strong smell of fresh spray paint and noting the vehicle's missing license plates, Deputy Z. Smith recognized the driver as 35-year-old Daniel Drews from previous encounters. He recalled a recent report of a stolen red 4-Runner, which the deputy confirmed had originally been red.

Backup arrived, and North Coos Dispatch confirmed the vehicle was stolen, leading to Drews's arrest. A search revealed a blue substance believed to be fentanyl and brass knuckles unlawfully concealed in his pocket. Additionally, a silver Ford F-250 parked nearby was found to be stolen as well.

Drews was taken to the Coos County Jail for booking, while both vehicles were towed to be returned to their rightful owners.
