Greetings, Today I had the opportunity to do a ride-along with the Sheriff’s Department and spend the day with one of the timber patrol deputies. She picked me up at the beginning of her shift and allowed me to accompany her throughout her patrol area while explaining what her job entails. Not only was it incredibly interesting to learn about the work that goes into protecting and patrolling these vast rural areas, but the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Endless forests, countless waterfalls, and river views that are simply indescribable. It really gave me a deeper appreciation for how much ground these deputies cover. The deputy I rode with was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and respectful the entire time. She took the time to explain procedures, answer questions, and represent the department with a level of professionalism that truly stood out. It was a great experience and gave me a lot of appreciation for the work our Sheriff’s Department does every day to serve and protect our community—often in places most people never see.
