ODOT release - The ODOT Climate Office is funding electric vehicle charging stations for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles through a new grant opportunity. We have $17.2 million in federal funding for three new public medium- and heavy-duty EV charging stations: two along Interstate 5 and one along Interstate 84. Visit our medium- and heavy-duty EV webpage to find the application materials and a step-by-step guide on how to apply. The application deadline is Oct. 30, 2026. Long-haul freight trucks, buses, and package delivery trucks are examples of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. We chose I-5 and I-84 for the first group of stations because they are critical freight routes through Oregon and the region. This investment will help advance reliable, public charging options for larger vehicles that people and businesses rely on every day. At the webinar, ODOT Climate Office staff will walk through the grant opportunity, highlight key program requirements, and gather questions from participants. You may ask questions at the webinar, but staff will not answer them during the session. They will record submitted questions, compile them into an FAQ, and share it on the medium- and heavy-duty EV webpage on Sept. 4, 2026. These funds must be used for EV charging infrastructure and similar projects that reduce emissions from transportation. They can’t fund ODOT road maintenance or operations.
