Students and others demonstrate near St. Helens High School on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, after the indictment and arrest of two teachers on sex abuse charges. Gov. Tina Kotek said this week that she'll intervene if school board members do not move quickly to name interim leaders while the current superintendent is on paid leave and under administrative investigation for allegedly not reporting the reported abuse.

Gov. Tina Kotek waded into the ongoing sexual abuse scandal at the St. Helens School District on Friday, pledging to intervene if the district does not move quickly to put new leadership in place.
