The Board of Commissioners this week voted to hire an outside investigator to examine the circumstances of former Sheriff Angela Brandenburg's retirement over the summer. During Tuesday’s meeting, county administrator Gary Schmidt told the board the cost for a review would likely range from $15,000 to $60,000, depending on its scope.

The Clackamas County Board of Commissioners this week directed county staff to arrange for an outside review of the circumstances surrounding the recent retirement of Sheriff Angela Brandenburg, highlighting concerns that Brandenburg’s unexpected announcement in July was an attempt to give one of her undersheriffs a leg up in the election to replace her.
