Description

The main entrance to Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem on Sept. 24, 2025. The prison houses about 1,900 adults in custody behind 25-foot walls and ten watchtowers.

A former correctional officer at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem was found guilty Friday of fatally shooting his brother, Tony Miller, in November 2024.

This July, the Hillsboro Police Department will conduct active threat training at RA Brown Middle School, in cooperation with the Hillsboro School District, which is providing the use of the facility. This is a planned training exercise. There is no danger to the public and no cause for concern. Training dates and hours: July 1, 8, and 15: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 22: 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. Location: RA Brown Middle School, 1505 SE Cornelius Pass Road, Hillsboro This training helps our officers prepare to respond and keeps our community safe.
