Description

Florida voters approved Amendment 3, which will increase the homestead exemption for most non-school property taxes to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028. Some new residents will have to wait until their fifth year of eligibility for the expanded benefit.

Florida homeowners are getting a major property tax break, but people thinking about moving to the Sunshine State may not get the same deal right away. Voters approved Amendment 3 with about 62% support, according to Ballotpedia, clearing the 60% needed to amend the state Constitution.
