CHM release - The Coos History Museum invites the public to its August First Tuesday Talk on Tuesday, August 4, from 6:00–7:00 p.m., featuring Robert Bailey of the Elakha Alliance, who will present Bringing Back Oregon’s Sea Otters.  Once abundant along Oregon's coastline, sea otters disappeared from the state more than a century ago. Today, a growing movement is working to restore this iconic species and the vital role it plays in healthy coastal ecosystems. During this engaging presentation, Bailey will share the remarkable story of Oregon's sea otters—from their disappearance to the ongoing efforts to restore their presence along our coast. Attendees will learn how the Elakha Alliance is leading this conservation initiative and what it could mean for the future of Oregon's marine environment.  Robert Bailey serves on the board of directors for the Elakha Alliance, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring a healthy population of sea otters to the Oregon coast. Through education, outreach, scientific collaboration, and public engagement, the Alliance is working to make the return of sea otters a reality while highlighting their ecological importance and cultural significance.  This program will be hosted in-person at the Coos History Museum, with an admission price of $7 for non-members and FREE for CHM members.  Doors open at 5:30 pm with time to explore the museum.
