Long wait times, a shrinking pool of primary care providers and physician burnout are making it harder for Portland area residents to access basic, preventive health care.
Primary care doctors play a critical role in identifying health issues early and coordinating ongoing care. But a recent poll commissioned by The Oregonian/OregonLive found that over half of the 600 tri-county area voters surveyed said scheduling appointments with primary care doctors has become more difficult compared to three years ago.
