Federal agents lobbed tear gas and flash bangs at protesters in front of the ICE building on January 31, 2026.

The federal government on Tuesday asked an appeals court to put an emergency hold on a judge’s order that bars its officers from using tear gas outside Portland’s immigration enforcement building that may seep into a nearby apartment complex.
