Description

Whole foods like eggs, beans, seafood and nuts will automatically qualify as healthy if they are sold with no added ingredients (except for water). That makes foods like avocados, olive oil and higher-fat fish like salmon eligible to be labeled as healthy for the first time.

In an effort to improve American diets, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has released a new definition of what it means for a food to qualify as “healthy.”
