Hwy. 97 Fatal, Klamath Co.

KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. (22 September 2026) - On Sunday, September 20, 2026, at approximately 9:12 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on Highway 97 near milepost 255 in Klamath County. The preliminary investigation indicated a blue Lincoln Navigator, operated by David Wayne Slone (27) of Chiloquin, was traveling southbound on Highway 97 when it attempted to pass another southbound vehicle and struck a northbound Freightliner semi-truck towing a 53-foot trailer, operated by Narinder Addr Singh (33) of Yuba City, California, head-on. The operator of the Lincoln (Slone) was pronounced deceased at the scene. Slone is not believed to have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The operator of the Freightliner (Singh) was not injured. A passenger in the Lincoln sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Highway 97 was impacted for approximately four hours during the on-scene investigation. Impairment and speed are believed to be contributing factors in the crash. OSP was assisted by Chiloquin Fire and Rescue and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Hwy. 126 Fatal, Lane Co.

LANE COUNTY, Ore. (22 September 2026) - On Friday, September 18, 2026, at approximately 10:02 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle fatal crash on Highway 126W near milepost 33 in Lane County. The preliminary investigation indicated a red Subaru Forester, operated by Max Timothy Hill (48) of Newberg, was traveling eastbound on Highway 126 when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway and struck a tree on the shoulder. The operator of the Subaru (Hill) was pronounced deceased at the scene. A seventeen-year-old male passenger was also pronounced deceased at the scene. The highway was impacted for approximately four hours during the on-scene investigation. OSP was assisted by Western Lane EMS, Siuslaw Valley Fire Department, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
