🎉 Exciting News for the South Coast Economy & Youth!

We’re thrilled to share that the South Coast Development Council (SCDC) has been awarded $20,000 from the Southwestern Oregon Workforce Investment Board (SOWIB) to strengthen our local maritime economy and connect youth to career pathways!

This funding supports two impactful initiatives, led by SCDC’s Economic Development Manager, A. LaMar Hoy, in partnership with the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Business Development Committee:

⚓ Source Local Campaign — Promoting local maritime business-to-business connections across Oregon, showcasing our thriving coastal industries.

🍽️ Student-Led Seafood Culinary Showcase — Coming this September during the Oregon Coast Economic Summit! Local high school culinary students will prepare and serve regional seafood, celebrating their talents and introducing them to careers in maritime and culinary fields.

These initiatives build:
✅ Youth engagement & career exploration
✅ Visibility for local industries
✅ Economic resilience across our community

Thank you to SOWIB for investing in the future of Coos and Curry counties and supporting our shared vision of a strong, locally rooted South Coast economy.

We’re proud to partner with SCDC and our members to keep momentum growing!
