The Environmental Quality Commission will hold its next regular meeting on Thursday, Sept. 10 and Friday, Sept. 11 in Portland and via Zoom. Location: DEQ headquarters, 700 N.E. Multnomah St., 3rd floor conference room, Portland. Remote access: Zoom and call-in details are on the meeting agenda webpage (Zoom info differs by day). The agenda includes Department of Environmental Quality presentations on the following: Smoke Management Rulemaking, governing prescribed burn practices statewide. Toxic Air Contaminant Review and Update, DEQ's periodic review of regulated air pollutants. DEQ's workplan for Executive Order 25-26, Climate Resilience for Natural and Working Lands. The commission will vote on Temporary rules for two elements of the Recycling Modernization Act, Oregon's producer-responsibility recycling law. The commission will also consider an appeal in a contested case hearing: Winchester Water Control District and TerraFirma Foundation Repair, Inc., stemming from DEQ fines over water quality violations during 2023 repairs to the Winchester Dam on the North Umpqua River. Public comment on DEQ/EQC-relevant issue will be taken at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 11. Staff reports and further details: meeting agenda webpage.
