President Donald Trump responded to Pope Leo XIV’s criticism of the Iran War and call for peace with a lengthy social media post excoriating the pontiff. Trump called Leo weak on crime and nuclear weapons and “terrible for Foreign Policy.” The American pope shot back: “I’m not afraid of the Trump administration or of speaking out loudly about the message of the Gospel, which is what the Church works for.”
