Civilian employers experienced military life firsthand during an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Boss Lift event July 27, 2025, at Orchard Combat Training Center, Idaho. The Oregon Army National Guard's 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry Regiment hosted the event during their Annual Training, flying employers via CH-47 Chinook helicopter from Pendleton, Oregon, to the training site. The Boss Lift program strengthens relationships between Guard units and civilian employers by providing insight into what Guard members do during their military service. Participants toured training facilities and engaged with Soldiers and leadership to better understand the National Guard's dual state and federal mission. Oregon National Guard members serve part-time while maintaining civilian careers, standing ready to respond to state emergencies and defend the nation when called to federal service.
