🚨 DUI Arrest Following Traffic Stop in Coos Bay - December 28th, 2024 🚨
On December 28, 2024, at approximately 9:00 PM, Deputy Freerksen was patrolling the area of Bunkerhill, Coos Bay, when he observed a gray 2015 Dodge Dart with a Vermont license plate turn onto Newport Ln off of Hwy 101. The vehicle had no required lighting, was traveling 15 mph under the speed limit, and was swerving within its lane. A traffic stop was conducted at Chamberlin and Newport Ln, where the vehicle pulled up onto the sidewalk.
The driver was identified as John Meunièr (51). Upon initial contact, Deputy Freerksen immediately observed Meunièr's speech to be slurred, his eyes glossy and red, his face flushed, and there was a noticeable odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.
Deputy Freerksen asked Meunièr if he would consent to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST), and he agreed. After completing the SFSTs, Meunièr was arrested and taken to the Coos Bay Police Department for further testing. He was issued criminal citations for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII) and Reckless Driving.
