In November, a lawyer for the state told a federal judge that 26 days was the average wait for a jailed criminal defendant to be admitted to the Oregon State Hospital for mental health treatment.    Beth Nakamura

Disability Rights Oregon on Tuesday asked a judge to find the state of Oregon in contempt of a court order, citing its failure to admit jailed criminal defendants to the state psychiatric hospital within seven days for mental health treatment when they are found unable to assist in their defense.
