Deputy Z. Smith is on a roll, folks—racking up arrests like he’s chasing a high score in a video game! 🎮🚔
July 24, 2025, 9:44 AM: Dispatched to Milepost 3 on Gravelford Lane in Myrtle Point for a report of folks camping near Bennett Park. Deputy Smith rolled up and met three individuals, including 50-year-old Jennifer Muir, who was on probation and definitely not supposed to be hanging out with one of the others. Her probation officer wasn’t thrilled and issued a detainer for violating probation conditions. Jennifer was arrested, transported to the Coos County Jail, booked, and lodged--probably wondering if she can get a “do-over” button for this one! 😅
July 24, 2025, 2:29 PM: While following up on a complaint in the Lakeside area, Deputy Smith spotted 48-year-old Eric O'Grady strolling down Airport Way toward Highway 101. A quick check with North Coos Dispatch revealed Eric had escaped from Bay Area Hospital during a Mental Health Hold. When Deputy Smith tried to bring him into custody, Eric wasn’t keen on cooperating, despite warnings. Lucky for all, an off-duty Hauser Fire Fighter and a State Trooper rolled up to lend a hand. With some teamwork, Eric was safely taken into custody and returned to the hospital, no harm done. Talk about a community assist! 🙌
July 25, 2025, 2:06 PM: Deputy Smith responded to a report of two suspicious individuals near Kellogg Lane and Roy Road. One bolted, but 37-year-old Steven Miller stuck around to chat. A quick check through Dispatch revealed an active warrant for Steven’s arrest. Once confirmed, Steven was cuffed, transported to the Coos County Jail, and booked--probably wondering why he had to feel so chatty.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Stay on the right side of the law, Coos County, or Deputy Smith might just add your name to his leaderboard! 🚨
