🚨Deputy Starr Apprehends Ax-Wielding Suspect in Bandon Domestic Disturbance🚨
On September 8, 2025, at approximately 7:30 PM, Deputy Starr responded to a residence on Rosa Road in Bandon after an incomplete 911 call. The female caller urgently pleaded, "Help me," before the call disconnected. Due to Deputy Starr’s distance from the location, our partners at the Bandon Police Department swiftly responded to assist.
Upon arrival, Bandon Police reported that the suspect, Scott Smith (31), was inside the residence armed with an ax. As Deputy Starr approached the scene, he was informed that Mr. Smith had fled on foot. Unable to locate him immediately, Deputy Starr began his investigation. He learned that Mr. Smith had threatened a woman and two puppies with a homemade hatchet, causing her significant fear.
As Deputy Starr exited the residence, he spotted Mr. Smith approaching from the rear of the property. Mr. Smith was promptly apprehended and transported to Coos County Jail, where he faces charges of Domestic Menacing and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
A big thank you to our partners with the Bandon Police Department.
