🚨Buckle up, Coos County—this one’s a wild ride. 🚨

On July 3, 2025, at about 4:40 PM, Deputy Z. Smith was driving down Southwest Blvd in Coos Bay, lights flashing and sirens screaming, headed to a call near Charleston. Between Dakota Ave and Washington Ave, a black motorcycle caught his eye. The rider, Michael Farnham, 46, took one look back at the deputy and punched it, weaving past a silver pick-up at a reckless speed. Fun fact: Farnham’s now 0-4, trying to outrun our deputies. 🏍️💨

Deputy Smith locked in on this random turn of events, giving chase as Farnham burned past Idaho Ave, pushing his bike way beyond safe limits. At a sharp turn, his luck ran out—too fast to handle the curve, he slammed into a guard rail and crashed into a fence. Farnham tried to scramble away on foot, but Deputy Smith was already on him, ordering him to the ground. Cuffs on, game over.

Farnham’s facing charges of Felony Eluding, Reckless Driving, Driving while Suspended, and a Parole Violation, as authorized by his Parole Officer. He was treated for crash injuries at Bay Area Hospital and is now at Coos County Jail, where he’s staying put.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Big thanks to our deputies for keeping our roads safe and to you, our community, for having our backs. Stay safe out there! đź’™ #CoosCountySheriff #RoadSafety
