🚨 Coos County Sheriff’s Office: DUII Arrest in Bunker Hill
On April 5, 2025, at approximately 7:40 PM, Deputy Freerksen was patrolling Bunker Hill in Coos Bay when the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle driving recklessly. At the same time, a citizen directly flagged down Deputy Freerksen with a matching description of a Gold 2002 Dodge Ram 1500.
Deputy Freerksen located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at Edwards Rd. and Newport Ln. for an improper right turn and failure to signal 100 feet prior. The driver, identified as Phillip J. Harpdeere (50), exited the vehicle, showing clear signs of impairment—swaying, struggling to walk, and smelling strongly of alcohol.
After being informed of the reason for the stop, Harpdeere consented to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST). Based on the results, he was arrested for DUII and transported to the Coos Bay Police Department for further testing. Harpdeere was issued a criminal citation for DUII.
Deputy Freerksen thanks the community for their vigilance and encourages everyone to report suspected impaired drivers. Together, we can keep Coos County roads safe! đźš“
