Coos Bay Fire Department will conduct a live training burn at 369 S. Marple St. on Monday, Dec. 8, from 5:00 PM to about 7:00 PM.

This exercise gives your firefighters hands-on training under real conditions. Crews will practice exterior fire attack, water supply operations, rescue skills, ventilation, and exposure protection. These drills help keep your firefighters ready for real emergencies.

This will be a controlled burn with extra safety resources on scene to protect personnel and nearby properties.

The 300 block of S. Marple St. will be reduced to one lane during the exercise, and hose lines will cross part of the roadway. Please drive slowly if you travel through the area.

We will monitor wind and smoke conditions during the training. Please keep windows closed during the burn and contact us if smoke enters your home. A firefighter will remain on scene until all flames are fully extinguished.

This training is conducted with your safety in mind and is one of the best ways we prepare for real emergencies.
