The Columbia River, at the crossing between Rainier on the Oregon side and Longview on the Washington side. A British-based energy company plans to open an industrial-size wood pellet biomass plant on the Longview side of the river.

A global energy company that hopes to build an industrial-scale biomass plant in Longview, touting it as a renewable energy source, has been fined for launching construction without a permit.
