Description

Salmon swimming in the Columbia River. The basin was once home to 10 to 16 million salmon and steelhead each year, a number that has dwindled as environmental conditions and habitat destruction has taken its toll.

Like many involved with tribal fisheries and environmental programs in the Pacific Northwest, Jerimiah Bonifer spends his summer days closely watching water conditions.
