City of North Bend release - The City of North Bend joins our neighboring communities in expressing heartfelt concern and support for the Hauser Fire Department following the devastating fire early Tuesday morning.  The City of North Bend joins our neighboring communities in expressing heartfelt concern and support for the Hauser Fire Department following the devastating fire early Tuesday morning that destroyed their fire station and apparatus.  At approximately 1:00 a.m., units from North Bend and North Bay Fire responded to reports of the Hauser Fire Station being fully involved in flames. Despite challenging conditions due to the building’s construction, crews worked diligently to gain access and extinguish the fire. Coos Bay Fire provided personnel support, and Charleston Fire assisted with additional water resources.  Thankfully, no one was at the station at the time of the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.  Out of an abundance of caution, North Bay Elementary School was closed, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, following recommendations from emergency personnel due to smoke and fumes related to the fire. The safety of students and staff remains the highest priority. All other schools in the district are operating on normal schedules, and officials will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed.  Our thoughts are with the Hauser Fire Department, its members, and their families as they begin the difficult process of rebuilding. The City of North Bend deeply appreciates the cooperation and dedication of all local fire agencies that responded to this tragic event.
