Buying or selling online? Meeting someone to hand off kids for a custody exchange? Where you meet matters. Pick a busy, public, well-lit place instead of a home or an empty parking lot.

A few things that help: meet during the day when people are around, bring someone with you and tell a friend where you're going, and keep the meetup outside and in view. If something feels off, trust your gut and walk away.

Our West Precinct at 250 SE 10th Ave is a public spot a lot of people use for this. Just know it's an open public lot, not a monitored service, so officers aren't watching over meetups. Keep these tips in mind wherever you decide to meet. Featured News by Hillsboro Police Department
