Casey Keasler of Casework Interior Design renovated a 1920s Arts and Crafts cottage in Lake Oswego for a busy family.A U-shaped built-in sofa in the media room provides a cozy place to watch a movie on the projector, while the adjacent library-style shelves display the kids’ latest books.The kitchen is the hub of the house with a big island or breakfast table to sit around.The kitchen range hood is in a tiled alcove with tile by Pratt + Larson. The island has wood turned legs and there is the floral cutout on the tall cabinet doors is a motif that's repeated in the home.In the dining room, Lonesome Pictopia of Portland hand-painted tiles around the fireplace depicting the family and pets.Real plaster surround the home's fireplaces.New floors are mostly 3.5-inch solid white oak that can withstand wear-and-tear and be refinished.Casey Keasler of Casework Interior Design renovated a 1920s Arts and Crafts cottage in Lake Oswego for a busy family.The primary bathroom has only 82 square feet of floor space but was designed to accommodate a Waterworks freestanding tub, separate shower and custom vanity. The mosaic pattern was designed by Casework with Pratt + Larson tile.Pratt + Larson handcrafted tile was installed throughout the house.Casey Keasler founded her interior design business Casework Interior Design in 2015.Library-style shelves in the media room make it easy to find a book to read.Un-lacquered brass used in fixtures will oxidize over time and naturally transform from bright yellow to a darkened matte or greenish-blue aged finish.The kitchen is the hub of the house with a breakfast table in front of a fireplace.A stained glass window facing the backyard was made by Portland’s Rose’s Glassworks to provide color and privacy. The gold and rose tones mimic colors in the room’s William Morris wallpaper.Brazilian black soapstone tops a red oak vanity made by Rockwood Cabinetry.Pratt + Larson tile was installed in the floor and shower of a bathroom.Real plaster and tile handcrafted tile in Portland surround the home's fireplaces.The entry has a painting by Julita Malinowska.The ceiling of the second-story hall benefits from the historic home's steeply pitched roof.Casey Keasler of Casework Interior Design renovated a 1920s Arts and Crafts cottage in Lake Oswego for a busy family.Casey Keasler of Casework Interior Design renovated a 1920s Arts and Crafts cottage in Lake Oswego for a busy family.A mudroom with a window bench stores backpacks.The plan was to protect character-rich features while creating a highly functional layout and installing sustainable finishes and furnishings that support the pace and needs of modern life.

A century-old Arts and Crafts house in Lake Oswego has a layout ideal for an active family with young boys, dogs, cats and fish. There are quiet rooms to read in, gather for family movie nights and a well-placed mudroom to drop off backpacks before going into the kitchen for a snack.
