Oregon’s largest ski resort will soon add a hotel to its list of offerings.
Mt. Bachelor announced in a press release on Tuesday that it was taking over operations of a recently-shuttered hotel property in Bend and will reopen the nearly seven-acre site as Trailhead Lodge, a “70-room basecamp designed for outdoor enthusiasts.”
The move comes at the end of a dismal snow season and a year after the resort’s owner, POWDR, walked back plans to sell Mt. Bachelor. The lodge, located 18 miles from the resort, could allow Mt. Bachelor to diversify its income streams. Without slope-side lodging or condos, the resort within Deschutes National Forest has ventured off the mountain to turn a profit beyond lift ticket sales. Now, the company is hoping the hotel opening this summer will draw a broader audience for year-round activities.
“We expect that there will be, especially in the summer, people who are staying at what is now called Trailhead Lodge who have never even heard of Mt. Bachelor,” said Lauren Burke, the resort’s director of marketing and communications.

Historically, one third of winter tourists to Bend visited Mt. Bachelor, according to Visit Bend. Hiking outpaces downhill skiing as the most popular sport no matter the season, the regional tourism agency has found. But, its data show the biggest draw for tourists to the area year round is dining out and shopping.
The hotel property’s location, a 20-minute drive to the ski lifts and a 10-minute drive to Bend’s popular eateries and shopping areas, was a big selling point, according to Burke.
“We were not actively seeking a hotel,” she said. “It really was kind of right place, right time. And there couldn’t be a property that is a better fit for that Mt. Bachelor brand.”
Burke said the resort recently signed a long-term lease with the property owners. Formerly operated as LOGE Bend, the property went into foreclosure earlier this year and the business shuttered mid-February. County records show the owner is still The Loge Entrada, based in Washington.
Along with rooms for guests, the lodge will offer employee housing starting in December 2026, Burke said. Currently, the ski resort and the Campfire Hotel in Bend provide affordable housing for some of the resort’s seasonal employees.
The company is also planning to provide après-ski services at the lodge and host special events like its popular pass-holder parties and summer concerts.
