Deschutes County Sheriff Kent van der Kamp was formally sworn in by county commissioners on Dec. 18, 2024.

An Oregon sheriff already beset by legal woes has been found in violation of moral fitness rules because he concealed his long-ago firing from a California police department, according to a report by the state agency overseeing police certification.
